Because red scares, media flack, and utter devastation of any meh country that tried it has imprinted the thought that the ideology is invalid and barbaric.

Basically, ISIL are still shit stained diaper wearing down syndrome children compared to how bad those god damn commies were back in the day. That's why comments like ''oh, you're a socialist'' ''you're sounding like a communist'' exist with so much resentment looming in speaker.

Also, Reagan.

Because the US is an empire that needs to keep the world on its side. Please don't tell me you expect any group of people to act on something other than self interest.

The nature of the US constitution. It was literally set up to forestall anything like that from happening.

To implement major reforms in American politics you need to: win the Presidency with a retarded electoral college where only 6-7 states matter, win control of a horrifically gerrymandered House, win more than 60 seats in a Senate where only 1/3rd of the seats are up for election every cycle and win control of a Supreme Court where you have to wait for a justice to die before you can change the balance. Plus constitutional amendments require approval from the states. The system is literally designed to prevent rapid change. The gridlock is so bad that it required a civil war to abolish slavery.

The closest you guys got was FDR, but he was stopped by the Supreme Court and holdouts in the Senate.

to add: the Framers were aristocratic slave owners, so they kind of had an incentive to make popular change as difficult as possible.

social democracy is slowly withering away in Scandinavia as well. Comfortably rich people don't give a shit about redistribution of wealth, so long as they can own multiple flats and a holiday home in Spain or Nice.

This is a /pol/ thread you huge fucking faggot. Saying it isn't one doesn't make it so.
