Amazing.

Prose is wonderful, structure is different and interesting, the build-up to the end and the ending itself among the most memorable I've ever read. The only knock I've heard and sort of agree with is that the characters tend to fall into stereotypical categories (e.g. the cantankerous grandpa), but even so I found them to be crafted in such a way that they are realistic such that you don't even notice it.
