also I just remembered you're supposed to bring your favorite book--I need suggestions for something I can bring on my kobo

is the windup bird chronicle popular enough to spark a conversation? remains of the day?

instant icebreaker

anyways for those curious there were about 20 girls and you got five minutes with each of them (which is so incredibly short when there's chemistry and so long when there isnt)

just gna start listing things I remember:

>one girl bought a DFW book (a supposedly fun thing...) ; she's also read infinite jest
>one girl was talking about Neal Stephenson and Ken Liu, pretty GOAT
>there were like three Harry potters, two hunger games
>the most patrician book there was probably The Road, although that's the only McCarthy book she read
>there was a civil engineer who was telling me about bridge construction; actually very intetesting
>actually there was a handful of Austen and Bronte books
>only four people knew murakami
>only two girls knew who James Joyce was, and both of them only because they had studied him for school..............

all in all it was pretty fun if a bit pointless

there were maybe 5 girls I was interested in and only 2 or 3 that I was attracted too

I...... probably won't do it again

T O R O N T O /lit/ meet up when?

Rate them each. I'm guessing DFW girl was a solid 7

How fitting.

U gonna hit any of them up?

>> No.6680980

>>6680938

nah, no sparks with DFW girl

there was a qt with a lisp who had an Anne Rice novel though

and the Neal Stephenson girl was kinda cute

>>6680959

yeah, I ticked yes to about six girls

the organization was absolutely terrible, so there's a good chance that I ticked the wrong gjrls

everyone was under pseudonyms too, which was complicated

>> No.6680985

>>6680980
What was DFW girl's pseudonym?

>> No.6680988

>>6680985
Probably something stupid like with annotations and shit

>> No.6680994

>>6680988

nah, you get given a random literary pseudonym by the organjzers

>>6680985

no idea, maybe Scout Finch? Or a character from Les Mis maybe

>> No.6681000

>>6680980
>>6680980
I would joke that pseudonyms are super autist and exactly what you would expect from librarians....except our Gomeshi problems suggest it's a legit safety precaution

>> No.6681082

>>6680937
That'd be a laugh. We meet up and all of us too shy to say anything, like the faggotty antisocial bookworms we are.

haha you dont stand a chance. normies use e readers because they're ashamed to be seen with books out in public and because it's an oh so cool expensive toy like an iphone or an ipad, it's a show of dispensable income. If you go with one they'll think you're showing off because they do it themselves.

This makes me wish I was single.

>tfw no girlfriend who likes Neal Stephenson, or any book I like for that matter
