It's in vogue, and the people who wrote it made bank, and teenagers or their mental adult equivalents eat that shit up, it's the perfect storm.

Apocalypse is the grand narrative of the hypercapitalist dysphoria we're swimming in. The system is so far up its own ass even the popular media is hyping up an imagined eventual downfall. This brand of ideological schizophrenia and artistic cliche creates a cycle of confusion and loose societal paranoia that could in theory be the self-recursive ideologue that capital itself needs to sustain and reify its narcissistic investment in apocalypse, as death of capital, as death of the human spirit and its modes of discourse structured by the social order, effectively equating the two. The death of the social order as articulated by capitalism is, in dystopian fiction, the death of the individual and the human spirit, his loss of family and attachment to his social paradigm. This narrative allows capital to retain its investment in the imaginary horror of the masses as an active mirror of our horror at the confusion and alienation society itself, pre-apocalypse, disposes us to.

there are writers right now who think that they are right by writing wrong things like this

It's the easiest setting to make a 2deep4u commentary on society. And to have kids doing adult things.

Just a way to mind control the masses for when the EU collapses and a lot of places gain independence.

Basically a case of monkey see; monkey do.

Escapism, it's beloved by people who don't fit in with normal society

No matter how dark or bleak the dystopia is they feel they can start anew there and adapt

Also they are only superficially dystopian.

Give an angsty teen a true dystopia like 1984 and it will crush their souls. They won't be able to handle it.

Because rebelling against an "unfair" authority novelizes what's going on in every teenagers brain. Just spend a long amount of time with a teen and you'll see that they are truly arrogant enough to think that they have the world figured out better than adults. They can identify with YA protagonist because they fancy themselves an undiscovered, precocious gem that can save the world from its woes.

What's wrong with it?

>> No.5951661

>>5951305
Teenagers often feel like the world around them is slowly collapsing, hence the dystopian garbage that appeals to their sensibilities.

>> No.5951702

It's not really their fault, since they are too inexperienced to understand how many things they have never thought of.

>>5951661

Which leads into this, as they start to realize that the world isn't all rainbows and sunshine like they thought when their parents protected them from reality.
