I actually read this in high school. Basically a high octane pornographic pastiche of Tarzan and Doc Savage

Is this real or a parody? Cause I can totally see this hiding behind another book on the erotic shelf at Borders

Nice. The first Elric related thing I have seen on /lit/. Loved those books as a teenager

I got the Fantasy Masterworks that has the first batch of short stories and Stormbringer, it was pretty great. Got the Cornelius Quartet as a follow up, only read the first one so far.

Is there like a list of some of the better/more important pulp books available? Because I know nothing about pulp and I'd like to look more into it.

I have this collection, it is fantastic. All the stories are in the order Howard wrote them and published them, not in any kind of 'chronological' order. Pretty cool to find out that his first story was about Conan as already king.

Agree with you all the way. All three collections are fantastic, and the order in these books is now my recommended way of reading Conan.

Read the original Conan stories by Robert E. Howard, the first three Tarzan and Mars books by ER Burroughs, the Lovecraft stories and some Doc Savage stories. Those are the basic and the best

It's the book that introduced me to a number of new writers.

Richard Sharpe Shaver. He's kind of like Lovecraft, except he wrote nonfiction.

W.R. Burnett (Start at the beginning with Little Caesar, then High Sierra and Concrete Jungle)
Raymond Chandler (Esp. The Long Goodbye)
Charles Williams (Esp. The Diamond Bikini series)
Jams M. Cain's Double Indemnity is basically required reading
As is Gil Brewer's The Bitch

You may also check out proto-pulp/noir like Twain's Puddin'head Wilson, McTeague or Émile Zola's La Curée, but God help you if you want to read all of Les Rougon-Macquart.
