Who have better stories /lit/
books or film?

I feel books have weakers stories because many times most of the book has is authour thoughs about some moral problem or spend too much worldbuilding his book.

While in films, you can't waste time and have to focus on the narrative (because of budget).

books aren't as concerned with entertainment as mainstream movies are. for the most part people go to the movies to be entertained passively for 2 hours. there are many movies with less story and more contemplation but they rarely go to large theaters because of the hollywood tradition of entertainment. books on bestseller racks will have just as good of a story as movies in large theaters.

What part of it is so hard to believe? I met her at a party, some 5 years ago, when I was dating other girl. Yeah OP, I'd agree. Movies and especially TV shows are entirely plot oriented, though this is beginning to change as TV as a medium matures and is focusing much more on characters.

This is probably for the better since film is a far better medium for straight-forward plot-dominated stories, and books excel at the finer points of story-telling.
