Yeah, knowledge as another way of being better than everybody else.
There are other ways than knowledge to be better than everybody else: strength, courage, wit, guile, command, seductiveness, attractiveness
And being pro-violence isn't "primitivism", retard, primitivism is advocating a return to life before the industrial age. Violence and war can be industrial and advanced.

A surly English overseer is standing at the entrance to a construction site in London. It’s a filthy, wet day. He sees approaching him a shabby figure, with clay pipe clenched in mouth and a battered raincoat, and scowlingly thinks, Another effing Mick on the scrounge. The Irishman shambles up to him and asks if there’s any casual job going. “You don’t look to me,” says the supervisor, “as if you know the difference between a girder and a joist.” “I do, too,” says the Irishman indignantly. “The first of them wrote Faust and the second one wrote Ulysses."

These are the product of a drinking game:
Express a central element of a work of literature using a well known aphorism. You have up to 2 minutes, or drink.

It's like academic dozens. Like yo momma jokes. People memorize bunches of these things so they don't have to actually create. They exist in certain college's traditions, especially among folklorists and medievalists, for some strange reason.

The folk sayings included here are:

Never put all your eggs in one basket.
The early bird gets the worm.
A stitch in time saves nine.
There's always room for one more.
A broken clock is right twice a day.
Where there's a will, there's a way.

The funniest ones are when people run out of prior ones, have had three drinks or more, and actually have to start making them up. I've only seen it played among graduate level and above. There was a guy doing an MFA at a major conference midwestern uni who did his undergrad at Harvard who was freaky savant at it. He could do them in English and Russian on alternating turns.

I think the insularity of the graduate experience produced it. We all lived in the same huge house, so we were also roomates. 12 in all. And co-ed. So we either had to learn drinking games from the post-grads for distraction, or deal with the powerful (and forbidden) departmental-incestuous urges. Easier to play games with books.

Another one was called "Disassociation."

I've posted it before. Player one says a word. "Proust." Player two replies. "McNuggets." Player one has some pre-determined time to make an association. "Proust famously wrote about chicken soup in Recherché and McNuggets are made of chicken." Player two has to drink. This one requires some rules to be set up in advance to prevent endless drunken bickering over details, but the point of the game is that with enough liquor, everything in the universe is connected, somehow.

Paris VIII was the product of a riot. Michel Foucault got his rib broken in a riot. French intellectuals and students, especially the first-wave of postmodernism, were quite riot prone.

I could take the sitting duck setup to say something artless and young, like, "proof you have never read Roland," but the fact is a lot of people who don't deserve public anonymous humiliation have never read Roland, so it's not really a sin of plebian proportions.

"AOI" is the transcription of a mysterious refrain found in the manuscripts of the Song of Roland. It appears at the end of some stanzas, but not others, and its frequency, the programme for when and why it appears where it does, its meaning, have evaded scholarly consensus. All readers agree though there is an "amen" or "make it so" or "as you wish" or "so as it was, so shall it be" like power to its refrain.

Here is an example, translated into English from the Old French:

I

Charles the King, our Lord and Sovereign,
Full seven years hath sojourned in Spain,
Conquered the land, and won the western main,
Now no fortress against him doth remain,
No city walls are left for him to gain,
Save Sarraguce, that sits on high mountain.
Marsile its King, who feareth not God's name,
Mahumet's man, he invokes Apollin's aid,
Nor wards off ills that shall to him attain.
AOI.

It is almost certainly a vocalization sung phonetically by the troubador or jongleur performing it for a live audience, but whether it had any further meaning remains a mystery.
