Can anybody explain deconstruction in a way that doesn't seem intentionally obscure? I want to start reading postmodern philosophy, but I feel like too much of it relies on this idea of deconstruction.

postmodernism is far, far larger than just deconstruction. you sound ignorant but good tidings on your will to learn

deconstruction is a made up word by professors who don't have any expertise in anything at all.

I wouldn't give it much thought. It is nothing.

To start learning what you called "postmodern philosophy", you have to understand phenomenology especially Heidegger, German idealism, structuralism, the implication of Goedel's theorema, Kuhn, and Freud.

Before learning Derrida you have to learn Husserl, Heidegger, structuralism, and Levinas.

I forgot Marxism, particularly cultural Marxism/Critical Theory on the prerequisites of the label "postmodernism".

Any Marxist that uses the word postmodern except infront of the noun "cunts" isn't a Marxist but rather a postmodernist cunt.
