Why are the vast majority of posters on /lit/ so mean?

>> No.2684402

all of 4chan is filled with people angry about their lives and taking it out on each other

My hypothesis is /lit/ actually has one of the youngest userbases of any board.

Most people get introduced to 4chan via /b/ or a big board like /v/ or /a/. However, the only people who "stick" to 4chan and migrate to interest-based boards while also having an interest in literature are kids still in school. An adult (25+) who both reads and spends his or her time on 4chan is a rare thing indeed, moreso because the majority of adult readers women, and 4chan's userbase is overwhelmingly male.

As for meanness, well, fuck you op.

Actually, it's been my experience that most of us are college-aged. The survey threads usually confirm this. It's 18-26ish, with a few that are older, not many that are younger.

We just get angry easily.

/lit/ is actually quite nice. Try /g/.

im 26 and male. and this is my first time back to 4chan in many many months. But I use to spend many many hours here lurking and talking about the same books over and over again. I got eventually just stop coming, maybe out of boredom.

So whatever happen to all the old tripfags: d&e, tybax, that guy with the glasses? is tinychat/litclub/ still around?

It's because /lit/ users believe they have power within the domain of words. Naturally, their aggressiveness belies their insecurity.

There's done countless survey threads on /lit, the average usually ends up at about 22. 25+ adults on /lit or /sci isn't very rare either.

I don't quite follow your logic either.

imo /lit/ is a very nice and interesting board.

/lit/ only gets seriously mean on Hunger Games and Ayn Rand.

I really like you guys, we have good balance of interesting discussions and shitposting is pretty funny sometimes.
