I have a hundred followers. I want to break into Rising Stars on RR, that would exponentially increase my fanbase and then I could start a Patreon. I'm nervous about an upcoming convention due to this nonsense, tempted to just send a female friend to LARP as me.

I have a zero followers. I have no ambitions to break into any other enterprise let alone to capitalize on my shitposts. I'm anxious about nothing since there are no stakes involved and nobody takes me seriously.

>enter a flash fiction (less than 1000 words contest)
>entered contest at the end of January
>my entry was changed to "In Progress" on Submittable at the beginning of April
>still "In Progress"

This is good, right? I still have a shot of winning, or at least placing in the top three, right?

You will make it anon. Even if the outcome is not what you aimed at the world rewards those who try at least with the attempt made.

I have a decent amount of followers but my works' score is 3.85/5. Because of score inflation, I need it to be at least 4.0 so people won't think its trash

I write book reviews for substack, and that's only earning me exposure.
otherwise, i'm still writing for fun

How did you find an audience on substack?

I have started posting essays on there, but receive no views.

>> No.23309435

>>23309219
it's all about marketing yourself on substack to make it worthwhile, since it is indeed hard (i have around like 30ish followers, 10 from substack, 20 free subs)

or you can kinda tell your irl/url friends about it and see where that goes.

hope that helps.
my substack is lincolnemiller.substack.com

Do you need an editor? If you mention you're from /lit/, we can give you a discount. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, but I'll be free for the rest of this week if anyone wants to submit something.

You know, I'm not making any money. I'm never going to make money at this. But I have a blog and get 30-50 views a month and that makes me happy. Once a woman left a nice comment on a post. I don't have the skill nor mental acuity for long form writing. But I can tell people about my life and sometimes make them laugh. That's all I need.

Nta, but you need to build some kind of social media infastructure leading to your substack. Substack articles have terrible SEO on Google, so they aren't very discoverable outside of the app. Cross-posting to medium is one easy way to do this, or start an Instagram or Facebook page.

so you try that

I am 2 or 3 months away from quitting my job if I can't get a substantially better one. I would rather take 6 months off and only focus on writing.

Damn I have a lot to catch up on with writing careers in 2024. For the first time in years I got inspired today to write and wrote out the entire plot of a book I will now write and finish.
For 3+ hours the words and plot spilled out of me. And I didn't even have coffee. I haven't even read a novel in years. I tried to walk away from it.

That's based, Anon, I've gotten into flow states like that before. I once wrote 15,000 words in a single day, in a single sitting. It's an exhilerating feeling.
