Looking for study Bible recommendations. Ones that are more content rather than trivia based, if that makes sense

The Navarre Bible is the best, IMO. But it is also very large and expensive.
There is the Ignatius Study Bible, but it is New Testament only.
Some anons consider the Didache the best, but I have never seen it.

Personally I'm a fan of the Thompson Chain Reference Bible. It certainly leans Evangelical, being available in the KJV and NIV, but I think what it does is more interesting than many other Bibles, because it's very objective.

When there's a similar use of phrase, it will give you a number and tell you the next passage it appears in. It goes until the thing is never explicitly mentioned again, and there's an index in the back where you can look at every concept's 'number,' and see every verse where that concept appears in a neat list.

How do you separate content from trivia?

There's also the Orthodox Study Bible. Otherwise, I'd recommend the Navarre, Didache, and Ignatius Catholic Study Bible like prima anon recommends.

The New Oxford Annotated Bible is the one used when studying the Bible in an academic setting. Yale also has two courses, one on the Old Testament and one on the New Testament, that they recorded and uploaded to YouTube. I’d recommend watching them, they’re really good.

attend a southern baptist (white) church.
They actually do bible interpretation of the text rather than just sermonizing some new age shit.

This is the best answer. Check out Robert Alter's Hebrew Bible, as well.
