Just read Call of the Crocodile.

Not as bad as I thought it'd be considering the writing, but the spelling and grammar and punctuation is evidently very much lacking. Also Gardner has a tendency to ramble about mundane dialogue/details for too long, really killing the pacing and hooking you in as a reader.

I would NOT read another book by him. How the fuck does he have so many reviews for his books on Goodreads? Fake?
