Get a proper Will and donate it to an individual or institution of your choice that will appreciate it.

Someday in the future my personal library will be studied by sociologists.

Get a custom nameplate stamp made, part with a couple shekels for it. Your legacy library will live on even if scattered.

I don't see the problem. Some people that enjoy literature will get lots of cheap (by then semi-aged) books.

I worry because my home library consists mainly of niche and obscure topics. Lots of Latin, particularly OCT's, medieval history, palaeography, philosophy, mythology. I suspect rather than finding a good home where others will enjoy/learn from them they will be viewed as a burden and tossed. Considering donating them via will somewhere but not sure who would be interested. University maybe? Some of them are old though in decent shape.

History that is not WWII or American slavery/civil rights thing is very much a niche topic.

Apparently Anselm, Juvenal, Apollodorus and Werner Jaeger are household names and their works just fly off the shelves. Same for books on Carolingian Minuscule in England and Beneventan.

Pretty standard reading list on medieval history survey courses in Uni.
