guys, help me out
recommend a good non-pozzed book on the history of gothic literature.
I mean, something that just tell me who's who and what's what without paying the verbal taxes of saying who was a terrible rayciss colonialist bad person.
it's so hard to get info on just the subject it's crazy

Why read a book on this when you can just skip some over-educated retard's opinions and skip straight into reading gothic books themselves, as well as author and time background info as the questions arise?

Skip the filter and go directly to the source.

OP, no matter how many books you read the chances are she hasn't and you'll sound just as foolish and retarded reciting your encyclopedic knowledge of her special interest as you would if you just told her about your own. You can pick yourself up a goth chick with only pedestrian understanding of the culture and being a skinny weed dealer that will put her on a pedestal. Anyway, all fields have been seasoned

that's solid, and i agree, anon
i just want some sort of map of the territory
all I know for sure is to start by The Castle of Otranto

anon, for that case I think just being able to sing along The Cure would do the trick. but I'm interested in the /lit/ part, the chicks are there for bait (and aesthetics)

>The Castle of Otranto
Sure but don't expect it to be great. I found it quite boring.
Frankenstein and Dracula are cool. Shirley Jackson if you want something that's easy to read.
