Well I fucking read all of the Dune shit. Generally I really liked the majority of it. Most of the Brian herbert stuff was pretty hard to put down and was great for reading in my free time at work. Having done this ive been overcome with an empty feeling and find myself just reading a few nonfiction books here and there. What I really want is another good series; something that draws me in and builds a world ill give a shit about and rewards my interest. Any series suggestions? Fantasy or scifi or anything, no real preference really

Hyperion
Book of the New Sun
Foundation
You liked the Brian books? They're generally regarded as kinda bad but whatever floats your boat.

If you like the series enough, it's good to tie up the loose ends. It's not like Frank had that impressive of a style. As long as Brian was working from outlines (which he was in some cases afaik), it's better than nothing.

I think it may have been the context in which i was reading them. At work i generally have about 20 minutes or so to read while my oil tanker loads or unloads. The pace seemed to match that. I was also really intrigued by the whole butlerian jihad and its aftermath having seen it referenced in the frank books.

I gave up after God Emperor of Dune.

>Hyperion
It starts so good with the cruciform but the rest was pretty mediocre imo
>Book of the New Sun
This is a solid mini-series. It reads like a mediocre fantasy novel at first glance but upon a re-read...

I enjoyed all the Dune series too, anon, and frankly I thought most of them were written better than Dune itself. But it is all personal taste. Princess of Dune is the latest one to be published.

Foundation series by Isaac Asimov, the one talented jewish writer, John Carter of Mars series, and if you're looking for straight-up fantasy, then read the Belgariad, which is a 5-book epic fantasy series well worth your time.
