>At the age of 7, Ellroy saw his mother naked and began to sexually fantasize about her. He struggled in youth with this obsession, as he held a psycho-sexual relationship with her, and tried to catch glimpses of her nude.[6][7] Ellroy stated that "I lived for naked glimpses. I hated her and lusted for her..."[8]

it's sad to see how this anxiety over American culture defined gen x, when they could have so easily solved it by just answering the jewish question. it's like there is this invisible monster in the room threatening both the interviewer and interviewee. you can see him twitching and shifting his eyes around, a brilliant mind trying and failing to see a way around the brutal kike conditioning.

Anybody have an opinion on what's Ellory's best novel?

I've only read the LA Quartet, but they're all pretty good. I'd say reading them in order is probably for the best, some of the characters reappear in the later books and having some background on them helps with the overall plot.

It really needs English subtitles but this is so cool that Pasolini and Pound actually had an interview together.
