First 5 discworld books are comfy. Next 5 are OK. From there they are not great.

Not a prestigious author, never will be but legit a good one. First discworld books are okay, bit too much LOTR satire for me to fully enjoy but he was starting out. The series eventually grew its own identity and I loved it as a teenager, really funny guy, rip, you are missed.

I liked them well enough as a child, but the older I got the more objectionable I found his politics. Discworld has some interesting original concepts, but they're buried underneath mountains of increasingly boring parody and working-class wankery.

They're my comfort books. And Terry was very well read, the amount of references he makes goes over most people's heads I think. Also his favorite author was gk Chesterton which is curious.
