How is continental philosophy more navel gaze-y than analytic philosophy? Continental philosophy in its current state usually looks at higher order phenomena (society, states, culture, language) than Analytic philosophy.
A good duality is Zizek using politics as first philosophy instead of ethics and John Searle justifying his analysis of speech acts by appealing to the fact that as a user of language, his best confirmation for the meanings of words is his own familiarity with the rules of the language game.
