This was a fun read.
>The most patriotic American in the 3rd Reich

After reading 2 of his books, I find myself regretting not reading his work in order of release.

You would have not gained anything by going in order, it is not like this is representative of early Vonnegut and you may have very well given up on him with Sirens of Titan. Player Piano is decent enough but simplistic and naive in execution, I enjoy it.

Chronology isn't important. Mother Night is definitely a criminally overlooked Vonnegut book, though. Welcome to the Monkey House was great, too. Timequake, Breakfast of Champions, Sirens of Titan, all great.

Checking out his bibliography, it feels like Vonnegut is obsessed with geneology and reappearing characters. Some books being minor characters in one book, turning into main characters in another.

I was going to read Mother Night at one point when I was trawling through Vonnegut's œuvre. Then my brother took it from me, read it, and gave it back telling me it was a really good book and to read it. I never read it after that for some reason. Now my brother has been dead for two or three years, and I guess he took Mother Night from me about 7 or 8 years ago.
