What book first got you Pynched by the Pynchmeister? For me it was Inherent Vice. I was much more of a film buff before and when I heard PTA was adapting it I had to check it out. After taking my first Pynchpill I became much more of a book guy.

I watched Inherent Vice before reading anything by Pynchon. Then I read about a third of the way through Bleeding Edge and forgot about it for a while. Eventually I read all of Lot 49 and enjoyed it quite a bit; this was my first proper Pynchpill I guess. Now I'm about a third of the way through V. but haven't revisited it in a week or so.

I love V., but if you like Lot 49 and not enjoying V. maybe try Gravity’s Rainbow?

I am enjoying V. but I'm just extremely distractible. My plan is definitely to take a stab at GR when finished with V.

I read IV in jail. When I was young I loved reading but fell out of it in my teenage years. Bored, and in jail, I rekindled my passion for reading. IV was the first “literature” or literary book that I read and it opened doors. I’ve since grown out of Pynchon but I’ll always be grateful to him for igniting that fire. It’s funny because I thought I was in hell, but a lot of good came from that rotten branch in my life, to the point I wouldn’t do anything different and it made me the person I am today who I am proud to be

I don't get the meme.
I'm reading through The Crying of Lot 49 now because I enjoyed Entropy enough, but I can't get over how much books in this era were obsessed with having sex with children. The main character's husband is a proud pedophile, with pretty much no reason in the story so far. I mean if it sets up him going to gaol because of it I guess it make sense but so far it just seems like he's ripping off Nebekov with zero payoff.

Everything aside Crying Lot and Gravity's isn't worth the time.

Pynchons my fav writer for sure because my fav thing in books is goofs, gags, jokes and rambunctious behavior, and his books are full to the brim of it. Every novel is like one of those novelty snake cans, you open the book & POP you get a face fulla snakes and you fall back cackling. The mad mind, the crack genius, to do it! and then you think hmmm whats he gonna do next, this trickster, and you pick the book back up and BZZZZZZZZZZ you get a shock and Hahahahahah you've been pranked again by the old pynchmeister, that card. "Did that Pynch?" he sez, laughing yukyukyukyuk. Watch him as he shoves a pair of plastic buck teeth right up into his mouth and displays em for you- left, right, center- "you like dese? Do i look handsome???" Pulls out a mirror. "Ah!" Hand to naughty mouth. And you're on your ass again laughing as he snaps his suspenders, exits stage right, and appears again hauling a huge golden gong.

What chance has a lonely surfer boy
For the love of a surfer chick,
With all these Humbert Humbert cats
Coming on so big and sick?
For me, my baby was a. woman,
For him she's just another nymphet;
Why did they run around, why did she put me down,
And get me so upset?
Well, as long as she's gone away-yay,
I've had to find somebody new,
And the older generation
Has taught me what to do—
I had a date last night with an eight-year-old,
And she's a swinger just like me,
So you can find us any night up on the football field,
In back of P.S. 33 (oh, yeah),
And it's as groovy as it can be.
