I think someone on 4chan said that the Bhagavad Gita explains Jesus better than the Bible does. Is it true?

No, that's fucking retarded. Reminds me of when an Indian girl told me she believed in Jesus "and all the other gods". I smashed her stupid little gold swastika swing set.

Listen to this:

All wisdom is dialectical, that is it seeks the One and the absolute through and in spite of contradictions. That is the Advaita way, non-dualism. This is the wise man, versus the philosopher.

The Gospel of Thomas may be non-dual but it is not "Gnostic". Scholars now say it is more Platonic influenced.

>> No.21689663

>>21689653

Gnosticism is such a broad categorization, that it doesn't describe anything. Its just a general attitude and move by some Christians to distance themsleves from the OT with their own mythology. The early christians were both Platonists and had Gnostic elements.

Not necessarily better, but it helps you understand that Christianity is essentially just bhakti yoga.

>I don't get why more people don't realise gnosticism as a concept is just jhana yoga.

Because the western mind is caught up in metaphysics for most of its history and cannot distinguish the outside and inside , but rather has sought to collapse the two into one by positing exterior causes. Very hard for them to grasp non-dualistic Gnosis, this is how you get from the Gnostic non-dualist Jesus and Paul to Augustine and Aquinas. There are some exceptions of course like Spinoza and Hegel who do it in a formal way.

Indian concepts will never catch on in the West for semantic reasons. Indian language and culture is too alien and off-putting for the average Westerner to really engage with, even if the ideas behind it are easily compatible with Western/Near Eastern thought.

If that were the only thing holding it back, the Hare Krishnas would be the fastest growing religion for simplifying things.
Westoids are ingrained with westoid thought to such a degree that they cope and rationalize that Jesus was somehow connected to Indian practices, increasing the legitimacy of their cult while simultaneously degrading and debasing all of Eastern thought.

>> No.21690960

>>21690937
I don't understand what you mean, just hearing the word "Hare Krishna" immediately brings to mind Indian nonsense. The entire top verbal layer of it all is just too foreign, it doesn't sounds like anything that has a place in the average Westerner's mind. Becoming a Hare Krishna under Swami Prabhupada practicing Bhakti Yoga sounds as alien as anything possibly could, it sounds like tribal nonsense from some jungle you only know about from cartoons or Indiana Jones.
