The Brazilian natives that "failed" to industrialized were treated poorly by settlers and even worse by other natives that did industrialize. In modern day Brazil, many natives were taken as late as the mid 2010's and turned into sex slaves as children by cartels and gangs because they and their families had no methods of recourse in an industrialized society they knew nothing about.
That's the thing about industrial society. You industrialize and plug yourself into the matrix or you get fucking raped.
