What's your favorite Christian denomination?
I'm looking for one that's fairly introspective and meditative in its practice.

Any books discussing your favorite denomination or comparing and contrasting the various off-shoots of Christianity would be welcome.

Nah. They're too greedy, rich, powerful and centralised.

>rich
Depends. Monks take vows of poverty, priest salary in the uk is £22k on average.
>powerful
if you accept the social kingship of Christ it makes sense to give the Church power over society.
>centralised
Just as monarchy is the most natural form of political government, monarchy is the most natural form of Church government.

I want to follow whatever the guys in Salem were. I only want it in its purest and most militant form. None of that “interpretation” stuff. No you will follow the Bible literally as Father says or face severe punishment. I don’t particularly care if you are incapable of memorizing Leviticus 12, if you can’t you will get however many lashings.

the Vatican II sect which is not the catholic church but the prophesied end times counter church or the whore of babylon, which is the beast that was, which is pagan rome. """Pope""" """St.""" John Paul II was the antichrist because he was the 5th of 7 kings of the brand new historically verifiable vatican city state, so he was a pagan roman king. The Apocalypse tells us the antichrist will be the 5th pagan roman king will be wounded but live (this corresponds to the famous assassination attempt) and then after the beast dies later the people will be forced to worship him (his "canonization"). all of the vatican ii antipopes have been canonized, a process which ressembles the pratice of pagan roman kings being deified after death. the apocolayspe also tells us people will "wonder great wonder" at the beast. the only other time this phrase is used in the bible is when paul is contemplating false teachers. this corresponds to the shock and confusion of many at the vatican ii antipopes. Another shocking fulfillment of prophecy is the assisi prayer meeing. 2 Thessalonians 2:4 says
>Who opposeth, and is lifted up above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself as if he were God
the greek word for "opposeth, is actualy for recolining or sitting above". and low and behold in 1986 at Assisi prayer meeting the antichrist John Paul II brought all the heathens of the world together and had them pray with him (one of the more egregious violations of vatican ii which contradicts church tradition and is solid proof vatican ii is a new religion), then they went down to a lower platform while the pope sat above them, a clear fulfillment of prophecy. there is a lot more i could go into but i would just recomend this video for more info

The Catholic church is an incredibly greedy, materialistic and vain institution even if they do pay their priests a pittance. It's too jarring a contrast to the teachings of Christ.
It's difficult to view how the church has conducted itself over the years and not view it as having pursued power for power's sake to the detriment of its own ethics and morals.
The Catholic church has always chosen an excessively centralised model of institutional power from its prioritization of Peter over Paul onwards. This inevitably leads to corruption and is antithetical to the teachings of Christ.

Sorry. But no thanks

>The Catholic church is an incredibly greedy, materialistic and vain institution even if they do pay their priests a pittance.
This is a contradiction quite simply.
>It's too jarring a contrast to the teachings of Christ.
Like what? Nice churches from money that people gave for that purpose? The Cologne Dome was dragged together stone by stone by choice by peasants.
>It's difficult to view how the church has conducted itself over the years and not view it as having pursued power for power's sake to the detriment of its own ethics and morals.
The Church agrees with this in the sense that all of its failings they own up to.
>The Catholic church has always chosen an excessively centralised model of institutional power from its prioritization of Peter over Paul onwards.
Bishops have way more power than you think and the Pope rarely uses his power.
>This inevitably leads to corruption and is antithetical to the teachings of Christ.
Yes but its continued resurgence is not form being corrupt but the opposite.
