Better than Borges, Kafka, Nabokov.

we're not really off to a great start here, op

Your inability to produce anything more substantial and elaborate than a two-word bait template is a clear indicator of raging homosexuality.

Like clockwork.

Was meant to be first, but got distracted by a boiling kettle. Better luck next time.
My point stands. OP created an empty and useless thread. Better than, still unrefuted, explain this, ereaders are not reading - all retarded baits with no substance that don't even produce good discussion. How can such OP not be called a faggot?

I read The Plains and had no idea what the hell I was reading. It was like he was trying to write as nonspecifically as possible. Half the time I had only a vague idea of who the characters were or what they were doing.

The Plains is probably the easiest of his post 70s work.

Ah, the old “stop lit from having more than the same 10 threads about the same 10 authors” gimmick. I, for one, thank OP for bringing up a writer that isn’t frequently mentioned. That is a good thing

>> No.21350027

>>21349937
Yeah, it wasn't a difficult read. It just seemed like the author was persistently trying to avoid describing things specifically for some reason I could never fathom. At a few points near the end the book's vagueness and indirectness reached such an extreme height that it became quite funny, though I couldn't guess whether or not that was intentional.

What kind of burger is that on the cover?

>> No.21350483

>>21349986
What? That's not what I meant at all. Did you even try to comprehend? Most of the threads are of pathetically low quality and have no other input from OP than short baits, varying in length from 2 words to even a complete sentence at times.
It's great that a new author is mentioned, but is mentioning supposed to be all there's to it?

>> No.21350496

>>21350483
A low quality thread that is on topic is better than most threads now sadly. I also think you are overestimating how many can give scholarly effortposts. Sometimes you just like a book and want to bring it to other’s attention. If this is the type of thread you complain about, I’d hate to see what you think of the rest of the board

>> No.21350627

>>21350496
It doesn't have to be something that takes 3 hours to write. Simply expressing the general characteristics or providing a direct comparison to other, more recognizable works.
For instance, after having finishished the 1st tome of Lovecraft, I have started reading Ligotti - Teatro Grotesco. Had I wanted to share my joy of either book, I'd write at least a sentence.
>Read only 2 stories and they made me feel as if I'm in a Lars from Trier movie (Dogville). The Lobster also came to mind, just as surreally absurd.

Alternatively, I could make a "Ligotti better than King, this is still unrefuted" thread to bait fuming fanboys.
Yeah, the overall state of the board is less than ideal.

Don’t get me wrong, I would rather have an OP make a ~5 sentence post saying why they liked it, themes, symbolism, characters, other book comparisons, etc instead of the usual bait or incendiary post but at this point beggars can’t be choosers. Give me OP’s type of post over the usual idpol, ideological, tribal off topic thread where literature is relegated to the background like a setting in a Mortal Kombat fight. My point is that I think there are worse threads to attack. As an aside tangent, most good anons can only really expand on a few authors or books.
