Any other newcomers here, fleeing the ongoing train wreck that is popular entertainment? I'm legit deleting my streaming services, and starting on the top 100 novels listed in the /lit/ sticky.

I was forced in my younger days to read more than a few of the /lit/ classics, due to my upbringing and education. But for years now I've had an untouched copy of "Crime and Punishment", that I only just opened yesterday...now I can't put it down. Its amazing to think how long an entire world of drama and intrigue sat there ignored, while I wasted hundreds of hours on Netflix or Amazon Prime being constantly disappointed.

Modern entertainment feels so shallow, contrived...juvenile? And it's not getting better, it's only getting worse and it feels like we're watching a societal collapse of sorts. Just throwing this out there to see if anyone else is in the same situation.

I share your sentiment. I haven't watched TV in a long time. Currently I don't have any social media or streaming services. I'm also trying to quit watching news although that's a bit difficult, so I'm working on that.
For some people, watching Netflix is a way to kill time and unwind after work or other stressors. I've found out that I can relax without those things, it's just a matter of going through some initial boredom. So, sometimes it's books for me, sometimes it's exercising, sometimes it's working, meaning my focus alternates between those.

I've "self-published" like 4 fucking books and a god damn 400k word PDF of official shitposts, I've shitposted all over this place, up and down, been banned from most mainstream sites, and I sure as shit can't read a book for the life of me. I just want to hear myself talk. I don't even care that everybody hates me and nobody reads my shit, because I'm too narcissistic to even care about other peoples opinions. The gestapo burned my hovel down on the classy blog website, and I had like 30 fucking followers, and my gay smut was getting like 1k views or something. Witnessing that shit, it makes you realize how fucking pointless it is to try and accomplish anything. The state dictates what gets accomplished, so either you accomplish what your masters want you to accomplish, or you can enjoy being hunted like a fucking Jew.

I'm holed up in the old attic at Neocities, but in all honesty, the writing part of me decided that it's just not fucking worth it. It's like trying to educate farm animals, and the only thing that happens when you try to educate a goat is he will headbutt you. Even the gay smut was just there to try and tempt people into reading the other more formal treatises, but the state is too feeble to respect my work and they believe "If we exile the health and safety auditor, then we will no longer have any health and safety issues in our country". Which speaks to the amount of goyim and colored people who are now calling the shots in the absence of any people free enough from blood pollution to be considered as anything beyond farm animals.

I can't hold anything against them, since farm animals don't have moral agency, but it's just sickening to watch you meatbags bleat and cry as if your animal noises amount to anything but the white noise of suffering, meaningless, and inconsequential farm animals.

Trying to communicate with these people, the predominant language is 128-character-SMS-niggertongue, even among the allegedly "intelligent" and that's just fucking comical. I don't even bother to try and engage in conversation because I know how futile it is. Nobody will read this shit, I won't read any of their shit, and we just prattle on making irrelevant noises in this abyss of triviality known as the internet until we die, and at that point, none of us have accomplished anything, and all of our efforts were for nothing.

I stopped watching tv a year or so ago. Only out of boredom. Even the old movies don't hit the same way. I've seen over 5000 movies in my time. What I've liked I've liked. How much more is there to add? So much chaff. Now all I want to do is read. I made no grand split with tv, I just stopped. If something looks good I will watch it. I saw a trailer for that Irish movie with Colin Farrell, and that looks good, so I will watch that this year at some point, but in general it is all a world away now.

I am interested in the idea of images, and the domination of images in this age. I am interested in reading The Humiliation of the Word by Ellul.
