I'm making a fucking story, not a theme park ride. Why does the internet have so many of these euphemistic phrases to dissuade criticism or thoughtful analysis?

Most people hate sentimentality and quality standards these days. In part, it probably has to do with how many people personally identify with the media they consume. If you tell them that Marvel movies or anime really aren't all that great, they will be personally offended by it. So they just tell you all that to deflect criticism. The irony is that they are admitting what they enjoy does not hold up to the standards of greater works.

Anime is a lot different than a marvel movie my man. Some anime has qualities of being even better than TODAY'S quality novel and fiction

Imo, people overthink literature and try to find deeper meaning in works they like than what's actually there.

This place and Blood Meridian for example holy shit. It makes you feel strongly a certain kinda way so they assume there's something deeper to it but it's not.
