1 convert w/e pdf file youre trying to read to text (you may have to do it manually consider libreoffice)

2 download @voice (text to speech reader) on your phone

3 upload text file you converted in step 1

4 increase the speed of voice in tts program

Why do you want to read faster? It's not a competition. Besides, page count is arbitrary since page size, font size, and the author's style determine how fast a page can be read. It also depends on the material you're reading. Dense philosophy books may require a slower pace and greater focus than an airport thriller. Concern yourself with understanding and hopefully enjoying the book - not with how fast you're reading it.

Depends on what you're reading.
If you're reading philosophy or history, then it's better to read slower to soak up all the information.
If you're reading something like genre fiction, then it's just cringe, literary fiction depends on the book.

>> No.21000419

i usually spend two minutes on a page when I'm reading normally. sometimes I get a burst of concentration and read maybe 1-1,5 page/minute, but they don't last very long.

if you are reading fiction you don't need to read every single word, as long as you can picture the sense of the sentences.

>> No.21000595

>>20999721
Not the best way.

1. Try to find an HTML version online so it is easier to copy and paste. If you cannot then get a pdf and pray to god the font is clearly and the pictures are high quality, if they are then you should be able to copy and paste from the pdf manually.

2. Use amazon polly on AWS for free TTS and allows the compiling of 100,000 character sections.

3. copy paste and then download the audio file.

4. use audacity and speed up the tempo to what ever you desire. I have found the best is about 8%.

Fuck reading slowly. I'd rather read a philosophy book fast twice then slowly once. And then I could go back and look at the text afterwards to see any graphs or numbers that I missed.

No, they are the skim readers who you occasionally get into an argument with here, and you have to wait 3 posts into the argument to realize they comprehended almost nothing about the books they "read." They're basically ADHD retards or children/teenagers who think they can have everything for very little effort, that or they just like to pretend they're well read.

50 pages in 3 hours is fine. If you do that every day it means you can read a book a week. If you read a book a week, you'll have read everything you really need to read in a couple of years.

50 pages per day puts you ahead of /lit/ by about 49 pages per day.

For reading the Bible, that's actually pretty good. Pat yourself on the back, Anon. If you can read 50 pages a day it should only take you about a month or two. Once you're done with that move on to Shakespeare, and with those two out of the way feel free to explore.

It was Fahrenheit 451, which I don't think is a dense or difficult read. When I read my mind tends to drift so I have to reread pages once I realize that I was just performing the act of reading without actually paying attention.
