What an overcomplicating pseud kek. Lot's of words for a work no one use any idea of, but only the title. So much of these name dropped "thinkers" only used for his name in discussion, but never for any interesting idea or genuine thought.

rightoids aren't exactly the smartest and most sophisticated bunch so they cling to whichever pseud can lend some semblance of repute to their worldviews, for every Spergler the right has the left has 20 intellectuals of much greater importance

Op here.
It wouldn't even matter because the progressive left would still be wrong. And anyway the left of yesterday always become the right of today. So there is never remaining leftist author, they become right wing after a few decades.

Do you use any of his ideas ? Can you express one ?

It is a lot easier to tear something down than it is to build something up

The humble working man isn't trying to deconstruct arguments about decline or ascension, they are too busy doing the actual work of civilization and hoping in the Lord

We worship celebrities yet we have a lot more to learn from the humble and meek than the wealthy and boastful

If the world as a whole is bent towards one direction, you can find the truth not in bending the other way, but in standing upright

Really? I always considered him as too definite, a rigidifier, some interesting insights, though. He is to historiography what Jung is to psychology: both fun authors to read, however.

I tried.. but I admit I didn't read him. I'm very strict on graphomaniac authors who speak too much. Do you have a quick rundown ? And what did he says about women, I despise their inferior qualities.

That cultures are living organisms with definite births and deaths, and he supports his argument by outlining a non eurocentric view of history and tracing the life of eight high cultures.

Spengler is among the most lucid of philosophers. You musf be lacking in knowledge of the subject matter.

>> No.20694515

Dasein and wochsein as it has been taken by philosophy is straight out of Spengler. Also, the very characterization of the West as a standalone civilization, rather than being a successor to Greco-Roman civilization, is due to Spengler.

Your loss. He’s a very good writer and the English translations are quite good. >>20695819
That is not true. You can argue that Spengler’s more general predictions have come true but many of the more particular things he predicted, especially for Germany, have not come true.
