20443251 No.20443251[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

I'm starting to feel an intense dislike for normal people. The pandemic, the Ukraine war, the Johnny Depp trial, in every example you see (mostly on social media) a kind of stupid, violent mob mentality which feeds on itself and becomes more extreme. The hypocrisy, the emotional intensity, the sentimentality, it is all so repulsive and I'm not saying that from a left/right wing perspective.

Social media, and in the internet in general, seems to have amplified this stupidity and herd behaviour. What's worse is that the real world now just seems like a product of the internet, and people a by-product of it also. It's deeply troubling to me, no joke. Even on a mundane level I find that I talk to people now and sense very malicious, callous or repulsively stupid motives behind what they say, and I am not schizophrenic.

Are there any books about the way society has changed in the past decade or so?

Anything about the effect of advanced technology, social media etc on average human behaviour?

This is seriously making me want to not leave my home ever again, or go and live in a forest.

To control your hate you must realize people are the products of their environments. If you were Albert Fish you would rape and kill kids. This is not to say that raping and killing kids isn't terrible, but you can control your passions by understanding the causes of th3 things that distress you. This also means you can change people for the better, at least a little, by living a model life.

>> No.20443328

>>20443309
The gist of the book is kinda hard to understand, but essentially it's this: When the telegraph was invented, typographical culture in America became more focused on creating a sense of oneness than actually educating and informing people. Think of it this way: Mass literacy was aided by technology, but it also made it so people were less intent on understanding the core values of what national newspapers and television broadcasts showed them. In a roundabout sense, patriotism in America was kind of a spook, since a lot of the Protestant values the country was built upon were axed by 20th century technology's propagation and the rise of absolute nonsense like bipartisanship and radio dramas, etc.

Lasch is more about social critique and mass psychology, so his stuff can be kind of impenetrable at first. Whereas Postman is dated and has been refuted or even made obsolete by contemporary work, Lasch has a rewarding approach by blending his values with commentaries on those who came before them, and you'll probably get a lot more out of stuff like Haven in a Heartless World. Remember: the degeneracy you see around you has a common source and there ARE bad actors (and ignorant ones) allowing it to continue.

The path to Human 2.0 is being paved. We already have injectable self-assembling nano neural meshes, which can potentially communicate with the cloud. The definition of what it means to be human will be challenged as transhumanism starts to grow in upcoming decades. People who obsess about race are losing sight of something much worse that is to come. As Klaus Schwab says, "Data is the new gold," and there is an attempt to connect our minds to the cloud, which several batches of the "vaccine" during the scamdemic were testing. Genetic engineering will likewise be normalized in the future:

Yuval talking about the future:

Not a single positive thing has come from the technological-industrial order. Likewise, the technological-industrial order exerts dysgenic effects.

The problem is today's world is all geared around skills and employment, but warfare was needed because it offered “get rich quick” opportunities for young males to support their families and the human psychology shows this.
That is actually what our evolutionary design is: it kept the village safe, the enemies knocked up, the population under control and sufficient resources for young breeding couples when it was needed.
We are now in some Indianization, like what happened in India during and after the Raj, the young have little money at their peak breeding ability and as a consequence children are growing up subtly malnourished and mentally impoverished, the old are living longer and retaining resource control, infant mortality is too low to permit any genetic winnowing, the species is creeping along the path of cretinization and infirmity.

I like Postman, but he comes across as a watered down Mcluhan to me. If you have a decent grasp on the Gutenberg Galaxy, you can extrapolate most of what Postman focuses on in Amusing Ourselves to Death.

Philosophically, I think Simulation and Simulacra gets to the heart of the issue. However, I think Rudolf Steiners writings on Ahrimanic forces and the spiritual challenges of 20th century man also have a lot of insight to them. Notably, spiritually there is a trend where modern man's obsession with material reductionism is turning his very spirit into a rigid, mechanistic one (i.e. NPC)

I feel you, anon. I've never been the kind of guy who'd bitch about the state of the world or society or anything like that; to me, the world just is what it is. I'm not an incel or a misogynist. I don't even have very strong opinions on mainstream politics, besides being something of a contrarian by nature.
But the past two years have been blackpilling beyond belief. The early months of the pandemic felt like a psychological horror version of The Emperor's New Clothes. And it's like the world hasn't been the same since.

I've had to reevaluate pretty much my entire belief system in less than two years. I've become much more and reactionary. I feel a much stronger attachment and duty to my close friends and family and nation, despite many of them being part of the problem. No idea where I'll go from here.

Biden has I think mostly (completely?) ended restrictions which is why that attempt at a copycat tucker convoy in the U.S. flopped completely... they don't have anything to protest! Well at least not on that basis. Anyways, I had dinner in the Korean neighborhood tonight and most Asians around there were masked so there's definitely a cultural difference.

>>20443723
I wish you the best on your journey, but I've become quite the opposite of you in terms of the political direction, yet also at odds with mainstream liberal ideology. When people are talking about "NPCs" and "brainwashed sheeple," I really think that's wrong, but it's not wrong to say that people are repeating propaganda which takes ugly forms that the OP sees on social media. What "propaganda" does is more like an enabler for people to go on believing what they already wanted to believe, because it makes them feel good, or because it coheres with their lifestyles and makes them feel better about how they live, and because thinking otherwise would create dissonance which would screw up their world and make them uncomfortable.
