He's pretty much the only professional critic worth taking seriously, right? Especially compared to the ones of other mediums like Christgau or Ebert.

Who would be analogous to those assclowns in literary criticism? Forgive me, I'm not too well versed in that area.

NYT book review or the like is the ebert of the literary world, whereas a 'literary critic' so to speak, is a serious scholar, almost always a phd holder/tenured faculty whose life work is in analyzing literature, rather than giving it a score or rating. To address your question, though, there are tons of critics worth reading. Only, usually they write in small, niche publications, on topics you haven't even heard of half the time. Bloom is the rare exception where a serious critic gains mass popularity and covers a wide range of literary topics well. I can only think of a few similar figures (joseph campbell for example). Most only have expertise in very specific areas (and the academic publishing industry incentivizes increasingly obscure criticism).

Bloom was the only one that refused to kowtow to the Political Correctness and Ethnical Identity bullshit. According to Bloom, all writings should be judged by the text. His heroes are Shakespeare, Dante, Milton, and Whitman.

If your pool of references is that shallow, then surely you would continue thinking that to be so.

Those two just happen to have memetic statuses, similar to Bloom.
