/v/ is retarded and so is almost all of 4chan. Only low IQ bottled water-drinking mouth-breathers think that somebody else's opinion on their way of entertaining themselves should affect what they do.

I'm an advocate for pan-4chanism, but sometimes when I read threads on /v/ I'm convinced that /v/ browsers and /lit/ browsers are a different race.

Considering racial averages between people who read for fun and people who play videogames I'd say they probably are different, racially.

This confirms for me that the only good boards are /lit/ and /sci/. Every other board is literal retards.

/lit/ and /sci/ have many people who might come off as smart to the ignorant because they can namedrop lesser known theories and big names, but are actually of average intelligence at most.

>> No.20092727

>>20092541
/lit/ and /sci/ arguably carry the most intelligent users. Normies get filtered out quick if they do not have enough 'tism and cognitive power to keep up with the resident shit posters and such. I am not saying that anons here sit in the 120-150 range, I am instead trying to say that some are arguably above the average, even if only by a few points. In order to name drop "intellectual" shit, you have to have the interest and drive in the first place - which normaltons do not have.

The pure math posters are probably the most high IQ on 4chan.
But as with all boards, it's a scale of norms and trends. 80/20 rules. Most of /sci/ is pretty dumb, as any board. Being interested in science doesn't make one intelligent, no more than learning algebra and calculus makes one a mathematician. It's a basic category error that stupid people tend to make.
That's why I think this board is actually smarter than average, despite all the retardation. There is no glamor or pretense on being a philosopher or writer, unless you can articulate yourself like one. It lends itself to attracting certain kinds of posters over others.

>> No.20093056

People who participate in discussions about specific books can come off as educated, and are often more verbose and eloquent than the average person, but the kind of people who make /r9k/-lite threads with a Wojak image and the "Books for this feel?" phrase are almost always midwits at best. Booktuberfags and people who use books or famous authors as an excuse to post about contemporary politics don't really come off as intelligent either. Surely they've lurked this board and maybe they've even looked up some of the more notable names mentioned on these threads, but then again, that only means that they're able to use Google and can at least read the introduction to Wikipedia articles, not that they can derive any in-depth analysis from them. Most of the "discussion" that we get on philosophy themed threads is one person asking others what the author meant by a specific passage, and others having to put that in extremely simple terms. The ones that get a bit more heated are the ones that feature one person giving a derivative interpretation of a text or a famous idea, which may sometimes be caused either due to extreme extrapolation or by not actually understanding the literal meaning of the text.

I'm not saying /lit/ doesn't have smart people, but there's many people who are not that smart swimming together with the rest, who read simply because they think it makes them look smarter, rather than because they're actually interested in the subject-matter of whatever it is they're reading about.

Isn't that simply a consequence of this being a literature board where the requirements for talking about philosophy is that it refers to a specific book or author?

Apart from the undeniable containment boards (/pol/, /adv/, /lgbt/, etc.), /v/ is the worst board on 4chan. It's basically just for spamming pictures of Japanese video game characters, and you'll get banned if you try to hold an actual discussion there.

/ck/ is honestly a great board. It has a pointless but still present topic, filling that sweet spot between "no fun allowed" and endless dick spamming. Also it's obviously a relatively slow board, so you can spend some time in a thread.

/fit/ is pretty bad right now indeed. I have dropped in every once in a while in the past few months, and it seems the situation there is getting worse. Only boards worth frequenting are /lit/, /sci/ (for the math chads), and a few others like /out/ and /ck/, as other anons have pointed out.
