What is so special about this collection of books for them? Why do they worship it so much?

It contains a good portion of their mythologized history, as well as their culture, and they believe it was at least partially dictated by God to one of their ancient ancestors. The reason why they give particular importance their religious books when compared to almost any other people probably has something to do with the Babylonian exile period and the loss of the first temple, where the holy texts were all that they had left.

I'm not entirely sure what direction you want to go with that question. It contains the cultural, divine, ethnic, and legal origins of their people on which they base most of their lives, and for a far-flung people the commonality of language, tradition, and heritage contained in a book is something dearly cling to

What about the metaphysical commentaries on each verse? What about Maimonides teachings?
We all know its not only the history of their people, c'mon.
There is something else.

i just told you fool--it is the text. if you know the history then you know how bad other people (maybe even yourself) wanna burn those books, scrolls or whatever. collecting books isn't exclusive to jews, every hotel in america has a bible, golden age of islam boasted about having the world's largest library for a long, long time. all pre-modern japan did was make an fuck ton of literature and art

The op is a picture of the torah, not Maimonides, and doesn't mention anything about jewish philosophy, don't c'mon me. That's like posting the bible and then being weird that someone's not mentioning Aquinas

Anyways there isn't anything else. It's a revealed religion, they're all like that, working backwards. Do you have any idea how much brain power was wasted by niggas like Aquinas who had big hardons for Aristotle, trying to find a way to cheat him into heaven or at least out of hell? It was a lot. And my boy Kierkegaard wrote a whole ass book just to say "um actually it's totally OK Abraham was cool with murdering his son just because he heard a voice, OK??" 80% of Muslims think the death penalty for saying Allah don't real is fine. I don't think 1.5 billion people out there are actually that nuts, it's just the answer on the multiple choice test you take at the madrasa

You're asking this on /lit/ where every other thread is about the Bible. The Bible. Which includes the entirety of the Torah. In fact it includes the entirety of the Hebrew Bible and then an addendum at the end, of a preacher who studied the Hebrew Bible and his life story.

>just because he heard a voice
Wrong. God had shown Himself to be completely trustworthy despite all worldly circumstances. God had also promised to bless the world through Isaac's seed and there would be no way to do that if he was dead. Abraham trusted.

> um actually it's totally OK Abraham was cool with murdering his son just because he heard a voice, OK??"
God had literally appeared before Abraham and as the other anon said, made everything he had said happen, happen. If you read Genesis 22 also it’s clear that Abraham expected God to raise him back to life or to intervene in some way—he tells the men he traveled with that he and his son will return to them soon. Abraham also tells Isaac that God will provide the lamb for the sacrifice. Abraham’s obedience and faith was so deep that he would go so far to kill his son, but he also knew that God would not do that to him. Not to mention that the entire story is a giant typological prefiguration of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion.
