>it's interesting to read this as someone born in 2000.
>i grew up outside the anglosphere but as soon as i got an internet connection i started spending a lot of time on the english-speaking internet (with a hope of one day moving to an english-speaking country). my online life was comletely detached from my real life and age group, so at 14 i was basically swimming in this millennial metaverse of travel blogs and radiohead hipsterdom thinking that beyond the bubble of my non-english-speaking rural upbringing, that's what life was like. then, 4 years ago i moved to the uk for uni and found that among my peers, the cultural norms and trends were waay different from how i'd imagined them to be. the internet was used in a completely different way from the one i'd become so used to and the hip stuff that i was reading about online belonged much more to my seminar tutors' generation than to mine.

>on the fringes of culture, "political extremism" is probably quite a bit more common among people my age than those a decade older, but in the mainstream the death/aging of the hipster subculture (along with most others) is even more noticeable. i think an important thing to note here is also how differently people now interact with the internet. i was quite susprised when i moved here to see that for most, the online world was snapchat and discord as opposed to interest-specific forums and blogs. and the kids younger than me, with tiktok and all that, are experiencing the internet in an even more vastly different way

Applied Marxism, commonly understood as some variety of communism or socialism, is wrong-headed. Private property is necessary for dignified human living. If charity is to exist, it must be voluntary. You can't put the genie back in the bottle, Man cannot return to the garden. Anything short of Marx's complete vision is a scam run by politicians trying to unload fiat currency for a number of decades until the inevitable occurs, and Marx's complete vision itself is unachievable by force. There is only one way: pic related.

Anon half the young people in the first world believe that marxism is workable. They are mistaken and don't know it, that makes the fpbp insightful. Incidentally this problem is not limited to secular dogmas, it has infiltrated the church as well. Read Gutierrez' liberation theology, which sadly has merged with critical theory in recent decades, you'll see where some of Francis' Laudato Si came from. There's plenty of criticism to go around. Too many politicians trying to usurp and bring down authority of salvation to themselves.

Marxism is just the most extreme example of human-degrading government our species has. I use it as an example for that purpose but capitalism is very nearly the same: open a newspaper in any first world capitalist country and you may as well be reading Marx. Everything -- *everything* -- is reduced ultimately to financial terms. Crime, civics, public health, wars, immigration, wall street, housing, etc. All measured in labor units and currency projections. Love is openly mocked, and mostly unknown to our generations. If there's one thing I want anons to take away from this transaction it is that the cult of Mammon is alive and well and there is only one refuge from it, and that is why you should feel compelled.

Fuck, you people are tedious to talk to. I don't buy into your false dichotomy for the same reason I don't buy into any other cult. Of course you're incapable of understanding this because you've been raised in the cult (unless you're merely pretending and trying to convince yourself which is also a possibility)

Catholic actually, and the church existed before the bible. I invite you to stop by sometime and talk to a priest. It's a very rational system and it seems whatever impression you have of religious people is tainted by a previous encounter with protestants (who are in fact heretics that lead people astray). Ask God for faith to believe, you're in my prayers bud.

And you started shitting up the thread immediately with yet another insipid cultist take. You keep proving me right by being insufferably self-righteous yet utterly obtuse, a quintessential christian, utterly blind to the ridiculousness of his claims yet still acting as if he's got some kind of moral high ground. And now you're going to answer with yet another stupid platitude that will be missing the point, again.

Mistaken. Jesus didn't go around begging people to believe him. If people were obstinate unbelievers upon hearing the gospel, Jesus instructed his disciples to shake the dust from their feet and keep it moving. You are allowed to be wrong.

Matthew 10:14
>And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
