It's difficult. I read Crisis of the Modern World in two days two sittings and enjoyed it with no brakes. This one however shit man I had to tap out and call my local indologist philologist Greek Sanskrit expert to get me to Chapter 2. After that my car caught on fire and I was sickened with erectile dysfunction and I just couldn't go on for months. I started mid 2020 and haven't been able to lift the book up since (from my other more interesting tabs on my laptop that is)

Imagine if every time you checked out a book you heard a review of how it went for the last person reading it but instead of the content of the book you just saw reaction videos of that person reading the book in fast forward.

I was able to understand it without much background. When I was a third of the way through I lost some of my vision, it came back the next day.

No. That would be King of the World or Man and His Becoming.

His magnum opus is Fundamental Symbols. People like his societal critiques because they're more accessible (and interesting to most readers), but those books don't reflect his true expertise and intellect. Through Fundamental Symbols you simultaneously grasp his perspectives on metaphysics, comparative religion, and history. No other book of his covers these domains as holistically as Fundamental Symbols. Although books like the Multiple States of Being or Symbolism of the Cross speak more to his metaphysical perspective, it's a perspective you can easily get from other authors. Guenon shines when he applies this metaphysical view to various religions and their histories, which he does in Fundamental Symbols. Reign of Quantity and Crisis of the Modern World are good reads, but they aren't anywhere close being his magnum opus from my perspective. Other books, like King of the World, are similar in content to Fundamental Symbols, but Fundamental Symbols has the greatest coverage of different religions instead of mainly focusing on a single spiritual subject.

'The metaphysical principles of the infinitesimal calculus' is by far his best work, after all, he was a mathematician, and he shows that math is the most appropriate tool for symbolism
