wtf Thomas Mann was a strong anti-fascist who even had a radioshow where he criticized the nazi quite openly. he also openly criticized those who compare USSR with right-wing dictatorships. not a communist by any means, but definitely not the Mishima kind of homosexuality. that being said, I think you miss out a lot on the experience of reading if you can't separate artist and artwork and especially if you consider the author's political views so impartant.. it's a very immature and unrewarding approach. as an anti-fascist myself, I really like the works of Mishima who i mentioned before and there's no contradiction there
