There's a considerable evolutive advantage in what is called "love", which is (basically) a desire ti stay with a determinate partner in particular even after the "(compulsion) to breed" (sic) has faded.
The advantage being, not just the ease to provide for the results of the breeding, but also the emotional support for both partners (in the sense of reduced stress, which increases teh overall chances of survival). Moreso, the continued survival of anindividual even past the time of the aforementioned breeding means an increased survival chance for its offspring, increasing the evolutionary advantage.
