Since there is a thread I will ask here. Where to start with Houellebecq? Is it even worth reading him? I prefer to read dead russians, but this filthy guy piqued my interest

His books are getting more and more optimistic.
His earlier works weren't.
Soumission was less pessimistic and it probably made a lot of people appreciate Islamic principles. By the way, I can't believe the sheer amount of dumb muzzies who never read a single page thinking it's some kind of anti-Islam book because some faggots on TV told them so.
Picrel will not make you want to kys. In the following spoiler I will not reveal anything about the plot, but rather what I retained from this book.

After a whole career of writing doom and gloom, Houellebecq turned on to a more optimistic worldview. He explicitly admits that Kaczynski - who is mentioned in the book - was right all the way. Anéantir stands for "Annhilate the techno-industrial world."
He illustrates this by showing the West's most shameful place, build by and for the system : assisted living facilities. Given that the system has ruined the family structure, such shameful facilities are needed. I remember that scene where Paul accidentally encounters an elderly woman, walking naked in the corridor with shit dripping down her legs and nobody giving a shit. The book focuses on an optimistic view of end of life ; that what matters is who you die with.
The terrorists are just a way to show the system's growing interdependence is making it more and more fragile and prone to collapse.

Read them in chronological order. Everyone says start w Atomised but if you aren’t used to his style and pacing, you may get bored. Extension of the Domain is short and sweet and will leave you wanting more.
