I'm so desperate to find an alternative to materialism and nihilism.

Reading Zapffe ruined my life. I feel like I'll never be the person I was before discovering his philosophy. I see through everything crystal clear and it's unbearable.

I lost one of my favorite people in the world and attended their funeral today. I would give anything to believe that life can be redeemed. A refutation of this life-denying position doesn't exist but an alternative perspective has to.

I'm reading Nietzsche at the moment but as far as I can tell his philosophy doesn't hold up to Zapffe.

This is the idea that got me out of pessimism and into ambivalence: Necessity. If I say that one thing is ‘bad’, it is because there is some other thing that is ‘good’. Now as regards reality, could it have been any different? I hold that it couldn’t be any different than it is. From this, I reason that there is no ‘good’ reality to make this reality bad; and there is no bad reality to make this reality good. Since it exists by necessity and could not be replaced, it can not be judged.

You want an alternative to nihilism?
Christianity, Judaism or Islam
Nihilism isn't life denying, it has absolutely nothing to do with that unless by nihilism you mean this kind of dreary state of depression people find themselves in
Remember that you are an animal and nothing you ever do will matter
