Could someone tell me if picrel is AI generated?
I am couple of pages into it, its lively, funny enough, cringe, kind of office chat by watercooler (which i miss because antivaxx layoffs and remote work) substitute.
Because if its authored by hue man, i will pull it through, but if its AI generated, which is my suspicion because of strong usage of symbols, i will drop it off.

when a person with social media brain-rot wants to produce an incredible hot take that other dimwits will repeat for years to come he takes something critically acclaimed that people already feel anxiety about not reading and gives them an excuse to keep not reading it by making a surface observation about it but wording it like it's a damning criticism. for example a million pretentious college twats already feel bad about not having read any pynchon or having tried and given up so you can just open a pynchon book, notice something about it like the names being funny and say that pynchon is just a guy that makes up funny names - and you will get a thousand retweets or whatever from people already anxious about not reading an acclaimed writer saying some version of "thank god somebody finally said it! i had to give up on page three it was so obvious that this guy's just a hack who makes up funny names!" it will propagate very easily as a meme because it combines relatability ("i have also noticed the names were funny! it do be like that!") with anxiety relief.

read it or don't read it and you will like it or you won't like it but don't mistake this genre of meme for insight.

I genuinely feel for Obama, in Dreams For My Father, it's clear he wanted to be like Malcolm X 2, but he picked up where Malcolm left off, realising the African American's only cultures totally aside from the white man are 'polygamy' and 'hut living', and that "brothers" won't leave the city because there would be no pussy and chicken.
I read these books because I badly wanted to find a qt black gf, but no, I'm white and university has long gone by, the only diverse thing on the surface were the races girls you saw on Tinder, reading Obama's book made me realise how like his search for peace among his mulatto status, such as I was being born in a majority working class durrrrrrr country where intellectual pursuits, for lack of a less lame turn of phrase, are treated like fag shit and that I'd probably never find an intelligent wife, just some dumb face-broken-pub gf that I somehow manage to convince to stay at home and raise a kid, ultimately university was not only a failure for me but a realisation like Obama's that hope lies completely in the crowd and when it's not there, it's just waiting to die. This only vaguely answers your question, but the only Pynchon I read was Crying of Lot 49, which is short, and I enjoyed it quite a lot. I only partially went through a DFW novel (I think Consider the Lobster), and it was enjoyable apart from dealing with the footnotes. I was a lot younger though, and I don't think it would bother me now.

blogpost anon here, I gave up on Tinder because I could never express myself honestly, either because my honest self is what you'd expect of a 4chan user, one black woman with big tits stuffed in a red dress messaged me and I spilt spaghetti immediately Obama style expecting repercussions eventually if god forbid my fantasies came true and the other being that the women on there were only art-hoe lite at the very best, I'm looking for a smart woman, not race-exclusive or a le geekerino mind you, the problem is admittedly I am not steeped in academia, I got my Bachelor Of Arts and kicked dust for 7 years and holed up with my books with no way to prove it, so the pseud card may be warranted but walking out of depression, even if it is a meme or fatal etc I have no idea where I'd meet those women and what I should look like, so far I have shown my work to some and some have seemed receptive but it's rare, short of insinuating some kind of "big deal" in both terms I'm lost, I do hate my town though. Malcolm X said he only trusted his wife in his book 70% but I reckon I could dispense of a lot of my power level if only I met some woman, the men in my town are grug-like which makes me either a niche or totally obsolete.

Considering I'd probably put the cutoff for intelligence at around the right-hand intersection point, I'll concede this point for the moment. That graph looks a little too clean to be based on real-world data, but using it as a starting place, since I'm not willing to look up anything more legitimate at the moment, it does seem like the ratio of intelligent women to men would be around 3:4? At least it's still a solid amount.
>>19706904

Would be hard to get past that, but it's certainly something to aim for. If you have an idea of the type of women you want, why don't you look up some examples or go to websites they'd frequent and see what they discuss doing? They have to be somewhere.

This one >>19699205. Contrarianism is an easy/quick way to elevate yourself above others. Bonus if you give a shallow enough insight alongside: you'll attract fellow pseuds and they'll back you (and your ego) up--which is actually all you really wanted anyway (fuck adding to a discussion that you're so demonstrably above).

To use >>19693547 as an example:
>take something incredibly obvious about the writer (Pynchon uses quirky names...bonus because that aspect of boomer-era humor hasn't aged well)
>take something incredibly obvious about the movement to which the book belongs (critiques of consumer/mass culture)...notice the pseud will (unconsciously) use the fact they have 60 years of cultural exposure as if it's a product of their own intellect (basically equivalent to flexing on a caveman for reacting to a helicopter)
>hint that you've above common level education and mass culture...don't expect any elaboration (just condescension); note here that someone who pays attention should realize the contrarian was actually filtered (intellectual pridefulness is their security blanket)
>lay out the basics of plot mechanics (not all pseuds are plotfags but it's an accessible point of reference...like focusing on good/bad "prose" (which is pretty vague and subjective)
>end with a snarky remark

There's a clear pattern with pseuds.

I think the point is being vague and obvious at the same time (shallow generalities). The "not all pseuds are plotfags" was wrong should have been "most pseuds aren't plotfags but... ."

Being aware of something like "McGuffins," which has accumulated negative baggage as a mechanic, and apeing that negativity as it applies to Pynchon by way of association (i.e. it's a shallow take dressed up as criticism...the pseud apes a vague concept and thinks it gives weight to "their" take).

being middle class in England is a living hell.
Nothing is catered to you.
You don't have the pubs, clubs, tv, radio of the working class. You don't have the gatekept gentlemen's clubs and social circles of the upper class.
You are in a barren land between two worlds and a Pizza Express delivery.

I love when people satirize[1] DFW's style[2] like that.

1. "Satirize" in the broadest sense of the word, as it is more a parody, by definition a creative work designed to imitate, comment on, and/or make fun of its subject by means of satiric[a] or ironic imitation, rather than the strictest definition of "Satire", which incurs into a more serious criticism and in some extents public shaming of someone or something.

2. A post-modernist mockery of an academic paper format through which some elements, seemingly chosen arbitrarily, are selected to be further explained by foot-notes or end-notes.

>> No.19721121

>>19721113
[a] Here the word "satiric" does not incur into the bad habit of using a word in its own description, as this is a description of "Parody" rather than "Satire".

Just silly and childish. This concept of semi-pseudo-prophets from David to Solomon is so pathetic in comparison to Christ. This mindset turns people away from the Gospels. It's dogmatic in the wrong way and ridiculous. Christ alone is king.

>A society which has replaced fear and sorrow with pleasure will experience more suffering then they would have before
here's a possible translation for both. pretty sure that these messages don't actually describe the intended messages of the books.
