>it’s in fashion among contrarian tankies to “hate” acclaimed, vaguely Trotskyite aligned, leftist authors like John Dos Passos and George Orwell because they dared to take a stand against Stalinism

Okay serious question then twittertards: if the NKVD committed a cold blooded murder(s) against your close friend(s) for fabricated, purely megalomaniacal reasons and then smeared them in death as “fascists” what would you do differently? You’re a liar, a coward, or a sociopath if you wouldn’t have become bitter with Soviet totalitarianism.

How can you possibly defend Stalinism either then or now?

>> No.19520657

I’d be shocked if there are any unironic Stalinists on this board.

Are you retarded? There’s tons. They’re all over Twitter too. Big accounts that get cross posted to here all the time like Kantbot and Logo Daedalus.

What the fuck is your goddamn problem you fucking sheep? This isn't your fucking blog or your fucking Facebook page where you post your gay little rants about the latest tweets and news headlines that really grinded your gears. THIS IS A LITERATURE BOARD WHERE YOU ARE MEANT TO DISCUSS A BOOK WRITTEN BY AN AUTHOR. You haven't mentioned a single book which you want to discuss. Enjoy your fucking ban shitlord.

The ones on /lit/ are Stalinists because they are demonic nihilists rather than because they are moral dogmatists

>> No.19520677

they'll just deny shit like that actually happened then call it propaganda and/or say you can't make an omelet etc. lol

yes. Not even a stalinist, but if you cannot take the consequences with the actions, what are you?

I take solace in the knowledge that all the tankies would get killed while I'd have to work some shitty job for the government (like I do already).

Orwell
>wrote the most famous novel of the 20th century whose terminology people dispatch frequently to this day in everyday speech

Dos Passos
>preeminent American leftist author of the 1930’s and Lost Generation alumni; friend and consultant with Hemingway before the Spanish Civil War

Sounds /lit/ to me. This certainly wouldn’t go on /his/ or /pol/.

I’d praise the state as my close friend has furthered the cause and their death is more impactful than their life. Stay seething

Does anyone have an answer for what drives someone to become so ideologically possessed that they end up like the person you're describing? Essentially to establish an all encompassing worldview and to unconscioisly filter everything through without ever seriously questioning it. Also not only that, but to accuse others of being a victim of essentially that and not having the self-awareness to think even once:
>Hey, maybe I am a little off here...

I've taken the liberty of spoilering any literature related words or themes in your post. The amount of black bars is discernibly lacking.

I think it is initially comforting to put your faith in a cause, to believe that it has all the answers, and to assume that it is really capable of delivering on its promises. I think I’ve heard that a personality trait called ‘low tolerance for ambiguity’ is associated with religious and political dogmatism

Yo, are you ESL? All you did was use the spoiler tags around the subject of the sentence lmfao. Does that… does that like… not seem retarded to you at all? Are you just insanely stupid or are you a foreigner? Are familiar with how people communicate ideas through writing?

Also the second paragraph is also explicitly /lit/ related as it is clearly alluding to the untimely murder of Jose Robles (Don Passos close friend) and the betrayal and purge of the POUM (the Trotskyite militia Orwell served with)

So yeah, consider this checkmate you fucking retarded faggot

don't necessarily disagree, but context and concept are two different things. Might as well point to any actualization where the means did not reach its ends.

And in that statememtn its not so much if the means outweigh the ends, but if one ends is worth compromising another with. So if those things did happen and a well formed communist society came out the far end by means of actual mobilization, would that revolutionary means warrant that particular ends?

There are certainly Trotskyite theorists worth reading, Ernest Mandel for example should be considered essential reading being one of the best value theorists in post-war Marxism. Haymarket Books, arguably the best leftish publisher currently operating also has its origins in Trotskyite circles.

You aren't discussing authors and their lives. You're discussing some strawman you've crafted or tweets you've seen that make you angry.
