Is there a correlation between being a world class writer/thinker and prefering cats over dogs? All the big brained people in history seems to share it

in4b people post counter examples and OP counters by declaring those examples as not a " world class writer/thinker"

The cat is obviously an embodiement of beauty, enjoyment and leisure. Any writer can relate to this to a degree.
The dog is first and foremost a useful animal. Some people get comfort out of their dog; but if you’re a lover of art, art comforts you already.

But notably many writers opted for the wolf, over both cat and dog.

The simple fact is, dogs make you need to go outside, multiple times a day, every day.
That is, they're a nuisance if you don't have someone else to walk them for you.
Writers are moody introspective nerds that don't want to go outside, a great thinker would resent the dog for forcing him to do something he doesn't want to do.

Actually all great thinkers are avid walkers

Note that a dog may be either male or female. If it is female, it is a bitch.
A cat may be either male or female. It if is male, it is a tomcat.

So a dog is male (useful) by default, while a cat is female (beautiful) by default.

I'd guess it's because dogs are more domestic in nature, and thus great writers generally have no interest in them for the same reason that many great writers were absent parents/spouses or did not have families at all.

No but there's a correlation between being a socially-awkward retard and preferring cats. Because cats are relatable to them.

Dogs are fine as long as they have a job and live outside. Dog people who need constant validation from a slave that is with them all the time disgust me. Indoor and toy dogs disgust me.

Cats are the beasts of civilization. Dogs are the beasts of beasts - unsettled nomads and barbarians. >>19516935 is pretty right.

Knausgård said something like, "Dogs are authoritarian. Their bark is like a barrier or wall that you must yield to, else face its bite." And art is about going over the wall and exploring beyond it. It's about tearing down barriers. This could be why writers/artists generally prefer cats.

Cats are convenient companions for people who live otherwise solitary lives. Dogs are not as much. It’s really that simple.

This dude never tangled with a feral cat then lmao, they are way scarier than some retarded dog.

I think the difference is that aggressive cats seem to intimidate by themselves and for their own sake, whereas when dogs do the same it is always because of something else, not to trespass, something always related with territory and community.

Wise men learn more from fools than fools learn from wise men

>> No.19517604

Different anon here. A well-trained dog could make sense, I guess. A lot depends on a writer's schedule or if they have family members that are willing to help. Collies are pretty smart, but they love herding sheep and suchlike.

>>19517243
Not all cats are like this. They do tend to be more independent than dogs, but cats with good owners are usually quite relaxed around strangers. OP's pic of Ernst Jünger has a Siamese cat, which is a fairly outgoing breed in general.

I didn't mean not good around strangers, I mean how they do shit like want a pat and then twenty seconds later they mood change and attack you.

One of our cats is like that and he's not bothered by strangers at all.

Ah, OK. I agree. Some of them can be quite volatile. They are often very wary around other cats, as well. A few of them have issues with being touched unexpectedly, others display a vicious streak even when playfighting. Some of the larger cats are surprisingly mild, however.
