have you ever read something that made you cry or tear up? for me it was Flowers for Algernon (the short story, haven't read the novel yet)

A lot of scenes in JR made me tear up. I read it last year, so I'm a bit hazy on the details. The stuffy with the author guy with the son and the bitch wife (Eigman? something like that) it was so well written the way he loved his son and how powerless he felt when his bitch wife tries to ruin his relationship with his son. There was an argument him and his wife had in the novel where they are arguing over money. She says he never wanted his son, he wanted an abortion, he doesn't really love him. He says that he said that before there was a Johnny (let's say that's the kid's name because I forget), he didn't want a kid, but when his son came around he loved him so much. It was heartbreaking, shit like that gets to me.

I also tear up at the ending of Franny & Zooey, where Zooey is telling Franny who the fat lady is and explaining what it means. i don't want to ruin what he said specifically because it would ruin the experience of it for some people.

I haven’t cried but several books made me fall into a depression were I wouldn’t eat or sleep for a bit. When I was a kid I read of mice and men and I lost my appetite for a day and just wanted lenny to have got to pet the rabbits. flowers for algernon was sad too but I was a bit older when I read it
