Find French people to talk to and learn from, it will be much more difficult to learn from books or videos alone.

Pick a french novel you think is at your level and read it.
Only talk to your wife in French from now on.

Have a purpose. What I mean, language is gained usually while we do something with the, whether we're trying to understand a movie, game, book.. or whatever. Most of the crap we take in school is about rules, that doesn't get you anywhere.

Find something to do with French for 10 months.

To point you how to do that, tell us your aim.

Watch the series "French in Action" on YouTube. If you don't pick up a ton of French from it, at least you can coom to Mireille.

For me, as language learning is in part personal, I learn and need a good workbook, so an introduction to french workbook in your case, a grammar book or workbook, flashcards (many of them(and physical!)), someone to talk to, at some point a book in the language, and routine and drive. Languages take effort and time. You can easily acquire and start doing the first couple of things I just listed, except for finding a french speaker. Finding someone to speak to is hard, but is most likely possible. Just look up french teachers around you, then talk to them. Besides this, start and finish a french workbook, drill grammar, actively study vocab and find a book to read. You won’t understand most of the book, but try to comprehend most of the sentences. Also don’t get hung up on learning about learning your desired language, just start learning it.
