Treasure Island is based. Long John Silver is one of the best characters in literature.

The meme answer is "start with the Greeks" but it also happens to be the literal answer. Read Plato's dialogues and Aristotle's Ethics and Politics. Just with these couple books you will be more educated on how the world works than 99.9% of other people on the planet.

Philosophy is fiction and therefore literature. Anon asked for non-fiction.

>> No.19165832

>>19165699
Well, ask for non-reddit genres, and maybe you'll get non-reddit recs.

>>19165765
>Philosophy is fiction
No.

Anyway, asking for nonfiction recs is the most idiotic thing in the world. Nonfiction encompasses history, cookbooks, quantum physics, self-help, and literally everything else. You have to be braindead not to know what you actually want to read out of all those options.

There two aren't posted by the same person.
Also, you seem to be thinking that I said that nonfiction is stupid.
Considering both of the above, I recommend learning to read, you absolute cretin.

As for graphic novels, read from hell (the best work of the dude who wrote watchmen) if you’re in the mood for something “literary” and at times a bit up its own ass; read Bone if you’re looking for a fun relatively brainless rollicking adventure
If you’re willing to read manga check out fire punch and chainsaw man (both by the same guy, both fantastic imo), freesia, and nijihara holograph
Reddit’s shit for the most part, I’ve only had luck talking books there on niche subreddits dedicated to lesser known authors

Seethe more.

These are all people who have buyer's remorse because they wasted 6 months of their life reading some shitty 1100 page postmodern novel where they learned nothing, and instead could have read like 3 or 4 great nonfiction books.
