You can love someone without putting them on a pedestal. If anything, that's the condition of true love. Simping is not love, it's fetishistic submission.

Not asking you to be a “simp”
Not telling you to love every woman. No one’s perfect, there are plenty of people who legitimately are hateful. But hating women for there sex, is sexist and hateful bullshit that ends up hurting you most. Knock it off.

Love is a fuzzy word. There are really two ways of loving something that are relevant here: I-want-that love, and I-want-to-be-that love. Fathers and philosophers go in the latter group, art, food, possessions go in the former. You're looking at women from both perspectives at the same time (good) and coming to opposite conclusions according to the differing standards (reasonable).

So the thing to do is to be able to separate those out and apply the relevant standard only in its appropriate context. If you apply your standards for men for ability and character to women, they're going to come up short. So don't do that, unless it's a strictly non-romantic context and you're forced into it. At work, consider them as men, strictly according to their performance and reliability. Elsewhere, judge them by woman standards, consider them in accordance with the things that make them loveable.

This is not hard to do.

>At work, consider them as men, strictly according to their performance and reliability.
But then the only conclusion is that they're retarded. That's why they are so hateable.

Yeah? You give a dog or a child a work task to do, they'll fail. You don't resent them for that, you say 'of course, he's a child.' It would be ridiculous to do otherwise.

>>19059381
Yeah, but I don't let my dog wear pantsuits and run half the economy either. Are there dog senators?

>> No.19059416

>>19059388
You're being very persistent in missing the point, which, to make it as clear as possible, is that the fact that dogs are not equipped to be senators is inseparable from, and even essential to, their being loveable AS DOGS. Therefore, if you saw a dog as a senator, or a cat as a mayor, which I think happened in some small town somewhere, you wouldn't be horrified or enraged. You would laugh.

>> No.19059419

>>19059416
I would not laugh if I saw dogs being regularly elected as senators, and completely seriously at that. I would be frightened that everybody has lost their minds. Which is in fact what I am, because they are regularly electing women, who are in fact stupider than dogs.

>> No.19059754

I was just shitposting. I do both hate and love women, but the hate is divided between a dislike of their present post-feminist and pseudo-feminist toxic culture of hedonism, entitlement, and frivolity, on the one hand, and a normal male dislike of stupid woman bullshit on the other. The former culture isn't the essence of womanhood, even if it has ruined almost all modern women by making them histrionic, stunted, irresponsible, literally childlike dependents of the dying welfare state. The latter is perennial. No man in any era likes being around when his gf is chattering about nothing with her stupid friends, and no man really thinks it's reasonable and respectable to cry regularly. Every normal man suspects women are slightly retarded.

Despite being very annoying, women are still lovely in spite of everything. Unfortunately their loveliest and most lovable aspects, like motherhood, are mostly suppressed at this point. But some good still shines through.

My literary dream is to trap myself inside a groundhog day inspired loop that takes place in New York on the day Charlie Rose interviewed Donna Tartt. And, yes, Donna would be the Andie Macdowell. Just imagine tracking her down in the city (that alone would take up the first week), then having eternity to fall in love with her again and again, each day, beginning at 8:30 am when you meet her in the green room or lobby or wherever and have the perfect compliment or snide remark (after years of practice), and you capture her attention immediately. Then it's off to lunch. Donna agrees to meet you in a highlife café or a jew deli or some such place in Manhattan. The conversation goes flawlessly and, despite the fact you've been repeating the same words for years upon years now, her laughter and smile have you thinking anew, "Am I really this lucky?" Together you and Donna spend the day visiting eclectic book shops and libraries and talking with each other about Homer, (whom by this point you've been studying for years), and Donna expresses how really "gobsmacked" she feels at whom she's chanced at meeting. As is neccessary, the day ends, dwindles down -- but not before you and Donna skate the ice at 30 rock! Donna can't believe how "slick" a skater you are considering where you grew up, but really it's "nothing to write home about," you answer with a dashing laugh. And then comes the best part. The proverbial cherry on top. You fall asleep together, lovingly, warmly -- all but assured the best day of your life is fated not to end, but to repeat itself, forever.

I liked The Little Friend much more than The Goldfinch.
I liked the atmosphere (smallish town in the 70's with some kind of murder-mystery) better and the main character in Goldfinch was very unlikable.
