Snow Falling on Cedars is pretty good. People like to build it up into being about WWII/post war hate crimes against Asian-Americans but it is considerably more personal than that and its comments on society are more about how people are so eager and ready to hop onto a bandwagon. The prose is simple but quite good, gives everything a nostalgic cast which is at odds with the events and that conflict works well. Story is solid but how he tells it is at times somewhat trite and predictable, mainly he uses the plot to provide movement at times when theme should be the driving force. The courtroom scenes are probably the best part of the novel.

Michael Kohlhaas. It’s like the anti-Kafka in some way.

The Lincoln Lawyer books get you into the nitty-gritty of criminal defense work, the strategies and tactics, the games that are played. Connelly has always been very good at doing trial scenes, starting with the Bosch books (e.g., The Concrete Blonde).

Anatomy of a Murder is an excellent book that was made into a fine film. Written by a lawyer, based on an actual client and case he had. Has a number of good trial scenes.

A Civil Action. Was made into an okay movie. The book takes you into the world of high stakes civil trials
