The reason all fads ‘fail’. A fad is never a movement and has no mass of people driving it. In ‘68 people got close but even that was more larp than substance. Although they reached some things, they may have done more harm than good, it stands that people weren’t discontent enough; and especially after the war there was little to absolutely nothing for beatniks to do or say. There was neither mass nor just body of people, nor means to exist for them conceivably, actually as something more than a fad.
Look at our world today where we‘ve had and have more than a dozen proxy wars, one recent vietnam like exit, a forever pandemic, no politicians but lawyers, bureaucrats and established elements of a intellectual and industrial kleptocracy, looming economic and environmental disasters, cultural upheaval, and the very fabric of society tearing itself apart in so many ways at so many points into so many directions that, like the economy, we‘ve lost sight of it, and the decay to conflict has become in its width as broad, daily and inevitable as were state, law and culture, becoming identitical in appearance and further appearing to the people living their lives. Society and decay so overlaid onto each other that you‘d be hard pressed to see which is covering which and where either ends and the other begins.
Imagine starting a decadent movement now in our modern, and in one of the countries most affected by at least two of the great challenges for at least western societies: climate change and chinese economical imperialism as a shallow, lying, talentless hack who wants to know nothing of it and actively sees each one of his living minutes as significant as those of the world and those of every other good, productive, simple yet upstanding person.
That’s going against everything which should concern an Australian, Westerner, even just Human being right now.
He and his movement are both formally flawed, as to there being no means to exist for either in their current appearance. Imagine being so blind and sheltered that you can’t see that. Imagine being such a larp that you can’t even larp as something new or someone different, but instead choose to parrot a dead aesthetic. On Waldun, this thread as well as this board, right now, are both very principally concerned with him and more what he stands for, is to the people here: a mirror and horrific example of irony and insolence.

Excuse the syntax and semantics. This is very much rant against everything, with little to no actual argumentative content compared to the mountain of accusations and hyperbole.
