In my country (Italy) if someone breaks into your house while you're not there, you cannot forcibly remove them nor call the cops. They have legal "possession" of your house while you have "property". If you break into your own house in these circumstances you can be criminally charged. The police cannot intervene because this isn't covered. You have to formally sue them. This basically means you lose your house for 2-3 years, even if it's your only house, and if they bring kids in (they will) you will lose your house forever, even if the house is your property. There are many cases of people who lost a second house of their property to gypsies and immigrants who broke in with kids.
The legal system is this country consists in hoping that nobody will do anything to you because they are guaranteed to go unpunished 100% of the time.
