Just looked up the book. The plot sounds like a sitcom episode (dance marathon that goes on for too long, in fact I'm pretty sure Sunny in Philadelphia had an episode about this...). Definitely gonna read it soon.

A strange combination of the most bleak, pessimistic story imaginable told in the most benevolent, kindhearted way. Shute is interesting, I can't imagine anybody but him writing this.
