If it wasn’t for society OP wouldn’t be alive right now.

If you think being alive is miserable, then sure, he was right.

In that case, you know what to do don’t you?

What is "society"? Do you mean government?

All government is, is legitimized coercion through the use of order, force, and violence. In that order.

We'd probably all be better off in full-blown anarchy, totally devoid of any state. However, I'd settle for monarchy where 1 person rules and the life of your average pleb is completely detached from high society, completely unlike how it is today.

Globalization will never go away but I do think we need to learn to plug off in a way and fracture into many small communes where mutual cooperation is required and desired.

Current society is an enigma on history and totally unsustainable.

Obviously, not. What a clown. This is the 18th century of the wannabe survivalist off the grid dropout fantasy, and it is fantasy. We have always lived in what could be called a “society”. Always. Only a sheltered moron who has been steeped in society their whole lives could ever believe otherwise.

You’ve never read Rousseau, you miserable retard. Actually, nobody in this fucking thread did except me. Rousseau’s thesis isn’t that society is inherently bad but that the society he lived in was bad because it relied on inequality. Rousseau’s “contrat social” is meant to theorize a better social organization for mankind.

There will never be an actual good, equal and utopian society due to human nature itself, so yes, it is inherently bad.

The joke is that claiming modern society is bad and nature good, is a seculiar version of the fall from eden or the end of the golden age.

Me too, rather live in a republic with a virtuous population, then an absolute monarchy, then anarchy, then a parliamentary system, then at the absolute bottom of the list would be a direct democracy.

Yes, but only because societal control is a reflection of the individual’s struggle to control himself. it is a necessary evil

Rousseau confuses the shit out of me. One moment he's all "democracy only works when applied to a very small population" then the next he's arguing why democracy should be for everyone.

He's not wrong. There is, at a biological level, a systematic corruption driving the individual into perpetual dissatisfaction, it follows the collective will never be satisfied, and so there will be a tumult that never ceases in the human domain, a force that keeps us in constant motion up to the point of total eradication.

Hobbes debunked him before he was even born. Epicurus also debunked him to an extent. It's more rational to seek comfort and pleasure as long as it's in moderation, something which is only obtainable under a civilized society.
Only retarded doomers and edgy primitive anarchists think otherwise.
